FTC Introduces Etycord - The Eco-Friendly Tire Cord Fabric Made from Seawastex

Formosa Taffeta, renowned globally as a leading textile company, was recently featured in prominent cycling magazines "Cycling Industry News" and "Bike Europe." In the interview, it unveiled the innovative concept and manufacturing process behind the latest product, Etycord - an eco-friendly tire cord fabric designed for bicycle tire production. The sustainable fabric is produced using 100% recycled discarded fishing nets, ingeniously transformed into nylon through FCFC chemical recycling process, specifically the Polyamide-6 (PA6) depolymerization, resulting in the creation of Seawastex, an ocean recycled nylon fiber. Formosa Taffeta then utilizes Seawastex to produce Etycord, providing the bicycle industry with a greener alternative for manufacturing bike tires.

Collaborating with local governments and fishermen, Formosa collects abandoned fishing nets and converts them into recycled nylon, thereby eliminating the need for international transportation during the raw material acquisition and recycling stages. Consequently, Seawastex boasts a remarkable 49% reduction in carbon footprint when compared to virgin nylon production. This proactive approach aligns with Formosa Taffeta 's ongoing commitment to green, low-carbon industrial development, as the company continues to pursue innovation and sustainability, aiming to be at the forefront of the eco-friendly tire cord fabric market.

Etycord's integration the eco-friendly process ensures that recycled materials are transformed into high-quality tire cord fabric, serving multiple purposes and meeting stringent environmental standards. The recent interviews in leading cycling magazines have granted the global bicycle industry profound insights into the eco-friendly philosophy embodied by Etycord and Seawastex brands. This increased visibility has earned Formosa Taffeta international recognition, solidifying its position as a leader in the professional eco-friendly tire cord fabric market.
