Groundbreaking ceremony held by Formosa Taffeta Co., Ltd. for a 25 MW rooftop solar photovoltaic system to be installed at its Douliu plant.

Formosa Taffeta Co., Ltd. (F.T.C) has been dedicated to developing the green power program to improve the air quality in Taiwan. On May 19, F.T.C starts to install a 25 MW rooftop solar photovoltaic system at its Douliu plant. As the installation is completed, F.T.C will have established the solar photovoltaic systems with the annual power generation amounted to 35 million kWh at its Douliu and Vietnam plants.
F.T.C has long been devoted to the manufacturing activities and environmental protection. In 2007, the Company established the group for energy conservation and waste reduction. In 2017, a group for pushing for circular economy and waste reduction was set up. In 2019, a group for green energy was formed. With technical experts from F.T.C and excellent enterprises at home and abroad, F.T.C strives to install the solar power-generating infrastructure to raise the ratio of green energy and to reduce the carbon emission.
In March, 2019, F.T.C was contracted to INDEFOL Solar to set up a solar photovoltaic system with 1,000 KW, made of the equipment of international brands from Japan and German, and so forth, at its Vietnam plant. The system was completed and used in September, 2019 and whose annual power generation reaches to 1.7 million kWh. Both parties continued working on the installation of solar photovoltaic system of phase II in March, 2021; its capacity is raised up to 1,750KW, scheduled to complete in September, 2021. When the infrastructure is set up, the annual power generation could reach to three million kWh.
For further implementing the green energy usage program, F.T.C planned a 25MW rooftop solar photovoltaic system in collaboration with Z-WAY Solarpower company (吉瑞電業公司) in September, 2020. The system starts to be built from May 19. The phase I is scheduled to complete 2.6 MW in October, 2021, and the 22.4 MW will be finished in October, 2022. As the completion of the installation, the annual power generation could reach to nearly 32 million kWh. F.T.C will build solar photovoltaic systems with the annual power generation reaching to 35 million kWh in total at its Douliu and Vietnam plants. It is calculated that 17,815 tons of CO2 emissions can be reduced, equal to the amount of carbon sequestration of 2.51 million trees of a year. This truly benefits the environment.
F.T.C will uphold the philosophy of “circular economy” and remain committed to energy conservation, carbon reduction, water recycling and renewable energy usage to promote the green supply chain of textile industry and attain the target of sustainable development.
