Statement from Formosa Taffeta Co., Ltd. (FTC) on the event that wastewater caused the Huwei Creak to be red on January 6, 2021.
The water quality of wastewater discharged from FTC has been inspected, and SS, SOD, BOD, Nitrogen, water temperature, and PH value were in accordance with the standard. Only the value of true color inspected by the Company was 440 which exceeded the range of 400. Immediate improvements have been made. On January 7, 2021, the value of true color inspected was 279.
The Company has currently abided by the request by the Environmental Protection Bureau, Yunlin County to stop wastewater from entering the storage facility of RO Recycling System. The facility will not be used until the improvements are completed and verified by the Environmental Protection Bureau, Yunlin County. Whether the Company violates the Article 18-1 and 20 of Water Pollution Control Act will be elaborated to the Environmental Protection Bureau. This event does not have a great impact on our operation.
FTC shoulders the responsibility of environmental sustainability, abides by the Environmental Act, co-works with the investigation of Environmental Protection Bureau and makes immediate improvements.
